FREELANCE & GURUX - Portland and Bend, Oregon

UX & Visual Design, Development, 2009
Between my time at Site9 and PCD Group, I decided to brush up on my HTML and CSS skills. I designed and hand-coded these three sites. Unfortunately, I never got to perfect those skills, as I moved on to focusing mostly on UX design (and not coding) at PCD Group and Thetus. The web changes quickly and seven years later, only one of these still exists in their original form.

PAPPO RESTAURANT
Role: UX & Visual Design & Development, 2009.
Pappo Restaurant is located in Alameda, CA and is known for it’s innovative and fresh take on Italian cuisine, They needed a web site that reflect this, but would also reinforce their tasteful and traditional aesthetic. I went with a palette of warm brown earth tones that made an ideal background for displaying striking images of their gourmet food.

PYCD
Role: UX & Visual Design & Development, 2009.
Portland Youth Development Coalition (PYDC) is a “consortium of Portland-based non-profits committed to putting youth first”. Since this was a brand new venture and I strongly believed in their mission, I donated this site to them. I created a somewhat edgy logo and color scheme to appeal to their youthful users and organized the content in an easy to follow and appealing style.

CAWS
Role: UX & Visual Design & Development, 2009.
Construction Apprentice & Workforce Solutions (CAWS) is a non-profit in Portland, geared to helping women and minorities pursue careers in the construction industry. CAWS had a web site, but it was badly out of date and uninspiring to them and their audience. There was a lot of helpful content on the site that was poorly organized and rarely viewed, I created a fresh and colorful design intended to excite the site visitors and present the content in a clear and understandable fashion.
