DESIGN

Here's a design portfolio of the work I've done over the last 15 years. It's broken up into 4 sections: Thetus (2014-15), PCD Group (2009-14), Freelance (2009), and Site9 (2005-08).

THETUS CORPORATION - Portland, Oregon
Sr. User Experience Designer and Design Team Lead, 2014 - 2016
I was a senior designer of powerful and complex data analysis software (Savanna). I created wireframes and prototypes, working closely with product and engineering in a fast-paced agile process. As the Design Team Lead, I managed a design team of 4 people (including UX and visual designers) and worked closely with the team on design and mentored less experienced designers. I was responsible for design team vision and productivity.

SAVANNA DASHBOARD
Role: UX Designer. From 2015.
While Savanna was a full-featured application, it did not have a central location for the user to get a quick overview of their work space and the actions of their collaborators. I designed a dashboard that surfaced all the pertinent data the user needed when returning to their space. Movable widgets allowed the user to customize the screen, while the widgets themselves contained at-a-glance information that helped the user quickly get back to work. The dashboard has now become so ingrained in Savanna, it’s hard to imagine a time when the feature didn’t exist.

SAVANNA ADMIN PANEL
Role: UX Designer. From 2015.
Savanna had the capability to manage a large numbers of users, but this was done on the back end by Thetus engineers. I created a new Admin section for the application, so that system administrators could import and manage users themselves. They also were given the ability to create roles and groups for users, so that permissions could be given for the different levels of users.

SAVANNA SEARCH
Role: UX Designer. From 2015.
Savanna had a powerful search, but it was difficult to use and often confusing. After a long process of competitive review and user testing, I redesigned the search by first creating a new, clean search results view that was easier to parse. I also added the feature of an expandable side panel that contained the search facets and filters. Adding saved and recent search capabilities also contributed to this newly robust search feature.
